Text Box:       The Family Support Enhancement Project is funded through a federal grant provided by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities.  The project is dedicated to helping families locate supportive resources in their communities.  Funding for the original grant began in   September 2000.      The first phase of the Project provided training for Regional Family Support Councils, sponsored self determination workshops across the state, offered technical assistance to support groups and agencies, established a 22–member  Policy Council  to guide the direction of our activities, and distributed a needs assessment survey to help us better understand the needs of Idaho families. Text Box: The need for more information about support resources was determined to be the top concern of families. The results of the survey provided the direction for the second phase of the project.        Since the beginning of  the second phase in September of this year, we have established an informational website and connected with formal as well as informal supports available to families.  Our goal is to provide families, agencies, providers, and support groups with a resource that helps to strengthen Idaho families.       Text Box: Family Support Enhancement Project Helps Families Connect Text Box: ….Check out our Family Support Website Text Box: The Family Support Website is dedicated to families across the age span.  Families are welcome to post information or requests on the Bulletin Board, list items to give away, trade or sell on the Recycling link, and explore informational websites for Text Box: families in the Helpful Links section.  Take a moment to look through the Family Support link and locate your county.  Each county has a list of supports available.  Since we are just beginning to put this resource together, we would appreciate knowing what is Text Box: available in your community.  Please email jmagelky@uidaho.edu or call our staff at 1-800-871-7004 with any additions.  You know your communities best!
