Text Box: In December we brought you information on 4 different issues to watch. What happened? Here’s a quick recap…
MEDICAID MODERNIZATION
H0662-Medicaid Simplification Act moves forward. It is now H0776. We recommend that you watch the newspaper, web and keep in touch with your local Health & Welfare contacts to stay abreast of changes.
KATIE BECKETT REFORM
We urged you to stay alert regarding the Katie Beckett waiver,

Text Box: due to possible changes regarding copays and eligibility for mental health. But, during this session, no action or movement took place on this issue. We would encourage you to keep a watch on this issue though because this program makes a huge difference in the lives of many Idaho families!
MEDICAID BUY-IN
We were thrilled to see H0664 signed into law by Governor Kempthorne on March 23. Congratulations to all of those who made this a reality!

Text Box: Health Council.
Council members are educators, probation officers, mental health counselors, clergy, and other volunteers in the community. Children’s mental health councils bring together local resources for the purpose of identifying and helping at-risk children with SED and their families.  For more information on how to join a council, call Idaho Careline 2-1-1 or visit on the web: at www.idahosystemofcare.org
Idaho Federation of Families—The Idaho Federation of Families works to develop a coalition of groups and individuals to educate policy makers, professional organizations, legislators, educators, and the public about the needs of children with emotional, behavioral, and mental disorders and their families.

Text Box: DISRUPTIVE STUDENTS
We alerted you to a proposal being made that could potentially be detrimental to kids in Idaho; and it looks as if Boise agrees— because the proposal was pulled off the table early in the session. The safety and ability for all students to learn is very important; however, we need to make sure that the rights of students with disabilities are not compromised  along the way.
As a reminder, you can check out these and other bills at www.legislature.idaho.gov/
